Job Description

Oversees and guides all major project planning & construction administration activities for the Company. Lead and direct project teams on a daily basis. Evaluate and select alternatives/options that minimize time and cost impacts. Present project updates to hospital leadership and Boards. Negotiate project change orders and requests for additional services. Evaluate baseline architectural schedules and tracks variances. Direct Company Construction Strategies entity planning/construction activities to ensure that all projects are carried out expeditiously and with minimal disruption, in addition to ensuring that all building and remodeling projects are compliant with applicable State/City codes and Company Construction Strategies goals and objectives.

Essential Functions:

Maintain leadership role in project planning and development, as well as implementation while identifying the most economical and effective design/construction solutions and that all regulatory guidelines are met, value-engineering opportunities, and financial analysis for each option in assigned region. Represent Company’s interest with architects and consultants, as well as with contractors, in assigned region.

Lead the major project construction implementation efforts for Company.

Anticipate needs of entities and interacts regularly with Directors of Construction, Construction Managers, Project Managers, healthcare facility CEO’s and/or appropriate personnel to accomplish projects in assigned region.

Represent Company interests with Architects, Engineers, consultants and contractors in the planning and construction implementation process.

Lead weekly project meetings, O.A. (Owner, Architect) meetings and participate in O.A.C. (Owner, Architect & Contractor) meetings on behalf of Company’s Texas entities.

Evaluate quality assurance and quality control issues and identify opportunities for improvement.

Represent Company interest with regulatory agencies.

Evaluate and reconciles Project Status Reports, Timberline Accounting Reports, and various other reports to ensure that information is accurate and distributed in a timely manner.

Develop cost estimates, cost projections and requests for cost estimates as needed for concept projects in assigned region.

Responsible for preparing, reviewing and monitoring budgets for planning and construction.

Additional Responsibilities:

Assess the skill sets of all direct reports and develop action plan to maximize the performance of the division through training, goal setting and corrective measures.

Perform other duties as assigned and follow organizational and departmental procedures.

Extensive travel may be required. Must carry and respond to long range beeper.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Broad knowledge of patient care facility requirements, seismic safety requirements and a thorough knowledge and experience in healthcare construction. Proven ability to work with a wide range of individuals in a collaborative fashion. Understanding of strategic planning, healthcare design, construction and healthcare physical plant configuration and components. Experience with local, state, and federal agencies and related codes.

Additional Requirements:

Job site safety, interim life safety, and infection control issues relative to healthcare construction and renovation projects.


Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction or related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years healthcare construction experience.
Advanced Excel skills, Primavera scheduling systems, Auto CAD.
Texas Licensed Architect, preferred.

Familiarity with construction processes in Texas required.

Salary $136K – 204K + 30% (depending on experience) bonus and benefits package. Reports to the AVP Construction.
