Is severance pay typically offered to construction executives who are terminated or laid off?

In the A/E/C industry, there are no general rules when it comes to severance pay for termination or during a lay-off. Most construction employers who terminate an employee for just cause do not pay any form of severance (as stated in its terms of employment).
Employees who are laid off are often given some form of severance, but it will typically consist only of a few weeks pay. Rarely is severance pay paid to a firm that is losing money and laying-off many employees.
