Can hiding my age help me land a job?

Some advisors recommend to individuals to hide their age if they appear too old or too young for the position. However fudging your age on your resume to get the job can be a colossal mistake to your career.
Omitting graduation dates from your resume or eliminating jobs that you held more than 10 years ago can backfire. Human resource executives can easily check such dates and, when they discover the truth, your resume is headed for the circular file. If you are already hired you can be terminated immediately without any benefits, and have your reputation damaged (blackballed) throughout the industry.
It is always better to be up front with your age and get the job on merit.
