How should I handle discussions on the War on Terrorism during an interview?

Because the war is a controversial topic, it is always best not to comment too strongly one way or the other and stay neutral on the subject (the same goes for discussions on religion or politics which should never be discussed on an interview).
It is best to assume from the beginning that the interviewer has not been trained appropriately in what types of questions to ask.
If pressed on an issue, make sure to offer a vague answer and then take command of the meeting by asking the interviewer their feeling on the issue.
