What is a Senior Director of Design & Construction Job Description?

The ideal candidate should have fifteen to twenty years experience, over ten of which must have been in the field of development, maintenance and construction of multiple properties, preferably in the timeshare or resort development industry. Experience in multi-family, resorts, light commercial and MEP is essential, demonstrated and verifiable. Specifically, the experience should encompass senior management of or in: ‘ Large civil projects, preferably resorts or multifunction facilities with a developer and responsible for hiring and supervising engineering consultants, surveyors & land planners; ‘ Construction of multifamily, condo or resort buildings and amenities either as a contractor or developer, preferably both; ‘ Work in the hospitality industry with significant experience in planning, design and implementation of prototypes and ancillary buildings where architects and interior designers were required; and ‘ Work in a structured and fast paced corporate environment where flexibility for change is required, reporting to executive management. Concentration on projects completed on time and within budget is required. Must have proven track record of recognizing and managing a cohesive team approach. The candidate should have at least a Bachelor degree in either Construction Management, Architecture or Architectural Construction. An advanced degree is a plus. THE JOB DUTIES ‘ Carry out those directives passed down from the Vice President - Resort Development relating to those items regarding the design and construction process, the policies and procedures for the company and the generally accepted practices and standards of the construction industry. ‘ Provide management with coordination between the Construction and the Architectural functions within the Department and culminating with construction of facilities. ‘ Provide technical support and construction expertise to the Department through regular site visits and inspections. Solve field issues and make a determination as to viable solutions. Immediately implement those solutions subject to authority limit given in the policies and procedures. ‘ Act as liaison with Resort Operations and provide coordination of ongoing and planned maintenance and refurb functions of existing facilities. ‘ Coordinate construction documents, verifying accuracy, completeness and adherence to guidelines established. ‘ Design, manage and maintain a data base system for existing facilities which would include structures, building contents and infrastructure. ‘ Accept increasing responsibilities as directed by the Vice President Resort Development.
