What is Construction Personnel Assistant Job Description ? Job Description Employee performs administrative and complex clerical work in a personnel office. Work involves considerable internal and external contacts, difficult non-routine tasks, access to confidential information and interpretation of department policies and procedures. Judgment and initiative are exercised frequently in answering verbal and written communications and in interpreting Universitywide policies and procedures. Work is performed under general rather than specific instruction. Duties of the Job 1. Processes confidential information. 2. Maintains a complex system of departmental records, reports, and databases. 3. Operates most standard office equipment. 4. Processes paperwork to enter new personnel in the Payroll/Personnel system and in benefits programs. 5. Answers inquiries which involve interpretation of policies. 6. Updates computerized personnel data files and is responsible for their accuracy. 7. Formulates correspondence independently and as directed. 8. Represents the department to internal and external individuals and groups, which includes making decisions that affect the department. 9. Performs research work, including data retrieval, for statistical data. 10. Explains employee benefits to new staff. 11. Screens calls, visitors and mail. 12. Supervises student or temporary employees during a minor portion of the employee\'s work time. 13. Reviews and evaluates departmental procedures. 14. Occasionally develops new departmental programs or revises current programs. 15. Schedules meetings. 16. Controls office supplies and equipment. |
