What is Director of Land Development Job Description ? The Director of Development is based at an installation and their primary responsibility is to provide strategic development program planning and overseeing the land development operation at the Post. The incumbent is responsible for leading the development program and project design as it pertains to all aspects of development, including: architectural, engineering, land planning and landscape architecture. Ensure complete and timely permitting, leading and coordinating preparation and approval of development agreements, managing land development and site construction. Required Skills: Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field is required. Masters degree in Real Estate preferred. Licensure as a professional engineer is strongly preferred. Knowledge of local, state and federal permitting processes, including heavy site construction processes and techniques, geotechnical engineering practices, land planning, civil engineering and architectural design processes, codes and regulations pertaining to land development and construction, skilled at negotiation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and scheduling software. Ability to travel up to 10% of time. Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work in a dynamic team environment with positive team oriented attitude. Experience Required: Minimum of 15 years of community development experience with at least 5 years managing large scale projects with exposure to scheduling, estimating, project management, contract negotiations and administration, acquisition due-diligence, entitlements and permitting, land planning, civil engineering and architectural design, budget development, housing product development, strategic planning, management of consultants and contractors, and management and development of staff. |
